Rain barrels and compost bins are an easy way to do your part in soil and water conservation, as this article describes.
Our 55-gallon rain barrels are $70.00 (tax included) and are stocked in gray beginning every spring. **NOTICE: RAINBARRELS ARE SOLD OUT FOR 2023** Homeowners should place their rain barrel on a pedestal approximately 12 inches high, which allows easy use of a watering can without unscrewing the top. It also increases water pressure. This pedestal can be made out of treated wood or concrete blocks, or homeowners can purchase a Wooden Pedestal Riser from Lake Co. SWCD for $25.00 plus tax.
Homeowners may also purchase a compost bin from Lake Co. SWCD for $150.00 plus tax.
